As the admin, I thought it best to introduce myself.
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, as an adult I lived in England for 8 years with my English husband before we moved back home to Bucks County, PA. I started working on my genealogy in 2008 but I picked up where my maternal grandmother had left off. She had already collected and found a lot of information and photos of ancestors so I had a good head start but I think she'd be impressed with how much farther I've taken our tree. Additionally, I was kind of starting from scratch on my dad's side of my tree.
Researching while I was in England was difficult, since only two of my branches originate from England, so I'm glad to be back in PA where a large portion of my research is, mostly in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh regions. However, I'm also researching in Wisconsin (Racine County), Kentucky (near Hopkinsville), Ohio (Lisbon area), and Virginia (what is now Colonial Williamsburg). My European roots are Swiss/German, Italian, Norwegian, and "British Isles" (England, Scots-Irish, and Irish).
My DNA results from Ancestry.com say my British and Italian genes are the strongest (around 55% and 31% respectively), with only 5% German and 2% Norwegian even though I probably have more German ancestors in my tree (several Swiss/German lines on both sides of my family).
I also run a blog where I post random musings and advise on my experiences with genealogy: Genealogical Musings
