Because of the nature of family matters within genealogy, you will sometimes come across sensitive information that some members of your family may not want recorded or shared. Additionally, while genealogy is very much about sharing information, records, and photos, you have to be careful to not share something you don't have the rights to. The National Genealogical Society's Standards and Guidelines has several guides on good genealogy practice and ethics. I would advise every beginner to take a look at them, and every seasoned genealogist to refresh their memory every once and a while.
