Infringement of the rules may result in the editing or deletion of your posts, or the suspension or banishment of your account. Guidelines are not mandatory but will be beneficial for all.
Rules:
1. English-only.
Sorry, I know genealogy is an international subject but for the sake of moderation and universal communication, I must insist that all conversation, with the exception of posting foreign documents for translation into English, be in English.
2. No harassment or personal attacks.
You're free to debate and argue, but keep it civil.
3. Do not post copyrighted material without permission.
The sharing of documents and photos in genealogy is common but do not post anything you may not have permission to republish. Just because it doesn't have a copyright watermark on it, doesn't necessarily mean it's not copyrighted.
4. No spam or trolling.
Unapproved or irrelevant advertising is prohibited, as are deliberately inflammatory (and often irrelevant) comments.
5. Do not post information or photos about living people.
In genealogy, there is often a crossover in the search for living relatives but to protect people's privacy, please do not post information or photos about living individuals without their permission.
Guidelines:
1. Please post in the most appropriate forum or sub-forum.
2. When asking for research help, please be supply as much information already known as possible, so those taking the time to help you aren't wasting their time and yours finding something you already have.
3. Introduce yourself in the introductions board.
It doesn't need to be your life story if you don't want, just a little background on how long you've been working on genealogy and what you research the most on.
